The “Icebergs” series explores transformation through scale, distance, light and reflection.
Photographed from a small yacht in Greenland, the series begins with monumental forms of ice encountered at sea. By reducing the surrounding landscape and working with low horizons, still water and changing light, I isolate these forms from their geographic context. Fracture lines become drawing, planes of ice become sculptural surfaces, and reflections create a second, unstable architecture.
The photographs remain rooted in direct observation, but gradually move away from description. What begins as a specific iceberg becomes mass, edge, volume and light – an encounter with a real object transformed through perception into something approaching abstraction.
