The Last Stand
Polaroid i-Type emulsion lifts on handmade watercolor paper
The Last Stand explores resilience as a condition of existence rather than heroism or recognised value.
The series begins with photographs of solitary trees, transformed through a process that moves the image from the digital photograph to Polaroid and finally to a hand-transferred emulsion on handmade watercolor paper. In this passage from image to object, the original photograph loses its precision: the surface folds, stretches and breaks, while accidents of the transfer become part of the work.
The resulting image is both fragile and persistent – a physical trace of something that continues to stand.
